On Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 8:10 PM, a Deputy with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on IH 45 near mile marker 119. Upon making contact with the driver, the Deputy became suspicious when the story was inconsistent with his travel and a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle.
The driver consented to a vehicle search. The Deputy discovered 62 bags of Marijuana weighing a total of 95 pounds, with a street value of $427,500. Twenty-four-year-old William Underwood was placed under arrest and transported to the Walker County Jail, where he was booked for Possession of Marijuana (Felony Degree 2), bond set at $5,000.
Sheriff Clint McRae would like to thank the Huntsville Police Department for their assistance with the traffic stop.
