Here are some of the laws that went into effect in the state of Texas on January 1, 2024.
–Senate Bill 17 bans diversity, equity and inclusion offices, programs and training at universities that are publicly funded. Universities can’t initiate diversity offices or hire employees to do DEI work. Hiring must be color-blind and sex-neutral.
–House Bill 2323 lets DPS offer specialty license plates which commemorate the 100th anniversary of our state song “Texas, Our Texas.” It also includes the dates “1924-2024.”
–House Bill 4758 stipulates a criminal offense if someone markets, advertises, sells or causes to sell an e-cigarette product to minors.
