The Courier of Montgomery County reports that eight-and-a-half year Army veteran Joanna Ellenbeck and Retired Army Sgt. Timothy Brumley will be given new mortgage-free homes in Montgomery County.
More than a year ago, Ellenbeck was asked to come to a Texans game. She thought she was going to get an award for her service. However, she was given a big key cut-out that said “new home.”
Back in December of 2022, she had registered to own a home through Operation Finally Home. Providing mortgage-free homes, transitional housing and home modifications for ill, wounded and injured military veterans, first responders and their families to honor their service, the Texas-based non- profit demonstrates their compassion.
She’ll be moving into The Woodlands Hills in Willis in 2024 with her five-year-old daughter who has cerebral palsy. She served in three combat deployments. Operation Finally Home is in partnership with Century Communities, the Texans, the Howard Hughes Corporation and the Greater Houston Builders Association.
Through the non-profit group from Massachussetts, Home for Our Troops, Retired Army Sgt. Timothy Brumley will be moving into a home in Montgomery. Brumley was on a second combat tour in Afghanistan back in May of 2005 when a booby-trapped IED device exploded under him. Following the explosion, his left leg was amputated below the knee. Brumley found out about the organization through a friend and was in search of a house that was adaptive for his condition. He should be moving into his new home in 2024.
