At the last regular session of the Huntsville City Council, in an agenda item First Reading, the council was asked to authorize the suspension of the effective date for an additional 90 days beyond the effective date proposed by Centerpoint Energy in connection with its statement of intent to increase rates.
Councilmember Vicki McKenzie made a motion to waive the Second Reading and vote on it that evening.
City Attorney Leonard Schneider explained:
Councilmembers moved to approve the agenda item in conformance with the waiving of the Second Reading request.
