The Courier of Montgomery County reports that in the residential development of Cielo, Conroe ISD is implementing an attendance zone for CISD’s new elementary school which is planned to open there in 2024.
With location plans on Airport Road near FM 1484, Cielo is being developed by Signorelli Company from The Woodlands. The project will take in 261 acres and offer 858 single-family lots.
Opening in August of 2024, Bartlett Elementary will be located at 11255 Cielo Drive. The facility will have room for 950 pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students.
In the developmental stage of the attendance zone, according to CISD Assistant Superintendent of Operations Chris McCord, 44 people will be chosen by the district to form a committee of principals, parents and district staff. Several meetings by the group will take place during the next four months.
McCord said the plan is to create an attendance boundary to bring in available students to Bartlett Elementary, while reserving room for future students.
In the Caney Creek and Conroe High School feeder zones, there are ten elementary schools. Regarding the schools, Creighton Elementary is 152 percent beyond capacity, Runyan Elementary is at 118 percent capacity and Austin Elementary is at 116 percent capacity.
According to McCord, for several years this will be the last elementary school in the area of Caney Creek and the Conroe feeders. But, he said, it’s not the end of constructing new elementary schools to serve the area, as a new elementary school will eventually be needed to be built in the northern section of CISD’s boundaries.
