Community Impact reports that at their September 12th meeting the Montgomery City Council okayed a proposal to rebuild a portion of the roadway and install another traffic signal at the intersection of Buffalo Springs Drive and Highway 105.
Ward, Getz and Associates Project Manager Katherine Vu said their engineering service will provide the design and implement the roadway construction improvements for Buffalo Springs Drive from the Highway 105 intersection to the rear property line of Home Depot. Home Depot is planning on opening a store on Buffalo Springs Drive.
Vu also passed along that WGA will take care of the construction and engineering of the signal, while TxDOT will design the new traffic signal to be placed at the intersection.
According to the September 12th agenda packet, the costs for construction and design of both projects will be around $1.4 million.
Also in the agenda packet, it specifies that $750,000 will be contributed by Home Depot, and they will also put up $674,000 with 15 percent for contingencies. In turn, the city, through a Chapter 380 agreement, will provide reimbursement for the $674,000 during a period of five or more years that is established on reimbursing half the total sales tax received by the city at the Home Depot store.
Montgomery’s Assistant City Administrator and Planning and Development Director Dave McCorquodale looks for the Chapter 380 agreement to be on the council’s September 26th agenda for approval.
