The Courier of Montgomery County reports that a school bus driver shortage is in week number four for this semester at Conroe ISD. To find drivers for the 30 vacancies they have, they will be hosting a job fair.
Superintendent Curtis Null passed along earlier this year that there’s been a driver shortage the district has had to contend with, even to the point of asking some of the office staff to keep it working.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations for CISD, Chris McCord, said all the transportation staff has been enlisted to cover the routes. He said both the standby drivers and current drivers are currently operational. Also, covering the routes are certified staff and mechanics.
From 9:30 to noon on September 12th, the job fair will be held at the Oak Ridge Transportation Center located at 27110 Geffert Wright Road. Additionally, CISD is hiring bus monitors, office staff and mechanics.
