The Courier of Montgomery County reports that a new site featuring a master-planned community is coming to Montgomery County. Two Step Farm will have a dance hall, country store and use goats for the clearing of the land.
It’s all on 1,860 acres north of FM 1488. A firm from McKinney, the Oxland Group, purchased the site. With an underlying theme of nature, music and farming, the new site will offer 30 residential home builders.
Oxland Group President Tom Woliver said, “Our team has created communities all across the country.”
A love for nature and farming will be reflected in the new development. Many of the trees will be preserved on the site. Forest areas will be restored through the removal of invasive plants and natural solutions, which includes goatscaping. The company has used goats for clearing underbrush before.
Phase One of the development encompasses:
–Music venues and a goat farm at the Homestead.
–A visitor Center, with specialty food and beverages at the General Store.
–A herd of goats at the Goat Farm to clear noxious weeds and invasive species.
–A main trail at the Two Step Greenbelt for bikers, runners and walkers.
–An available Pool House.
Eleven-hundred single-family lots are being made available, going from 35 feet in width to 80 feet wide and offering eight lot sizes available for purchase. Leasing availabilities include single-family detached homes. Woliver passed along that an active adult enclave and townhomes are options for the future.
The company is considering a community centered golfing opportunity in conjunction with the current golf course on the property.
They’re looking at 2025 for the grand opening for Two Step Farm.
