Community Impact reports that the Montgomery ISD has launched a superintendent search process.
The planned start date for a new superintendent is January of 2024.
During a July 18th meeting, the board chose Thompson & Horton LLP as the consulting firm for the search procedure. After an August 15th special meeting, they announced a superintendent hiring timeline.
Although the timeline is open to change, it’s expected that in October the superintendent application period will close.
Month by month, the timeline looks like this:
–The position for the superintendent was set to be advertised in August.
–By way of focus-group meetings and an online survey in October, community input will be gathered.
–During November, the candidates that are selected will be interviewed. District visits will also be conducted.
–In December, the finalist will be made known, and that candidate comes to the district. An employee contract will be signed.
–In January, the candidate begins their duties as superintendent.
Looking back, following his resignation, former MISD Superintendent Heath Morrison’s last day with the district was July 31st. He had served in the leadership capacity since July 2020. He left the district to accept a position as CEO of the national organization, Teachers of Tomorrow. Effective last August 1st, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Innovation, Amy Busby, was appointed by the board as interim superintendent at a July 18th special meeting.
