The Courier of Montgomery County reports that for the upcoming school year new technology, staff and programs are about to get underway at Conroe ISD.
Comprising 348 square miles, the Conroe ISD includes Conroe, of course, Grangerland, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, The Woodlands and other smaller towns and unincorporated locations. There are 67 campuses with over 73,000 students.
On August 9th students are scheduled to return to CISD, with the last day of school on May 23rd.
In the new school year:
The Board at CISD has opted to to have development days for the staff held on certain important election dates. This was decided by the committee that put the calendar together in regard to safety for the students, according to Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Hadith Sauceda-Upshaw. Several campuses act as polling stations, and students would stay home.
Regarding the school calendar, 9,200 people were surveyed. Ms. Sauceda-Upshaw said the preference was to begin early and let students out before Memorial Day.
There will be eight new principals across the district, with Debra Creel as headmaster of the Academy of Science and Technology at College Park High School.
In the new administrative leader category, Tara Vandermark is director of elementary education; Jeff Fuller is now executive director of school improvement, assessment and accountability and Rachel Jimenez is now payroll director.
This new school year, new panic alarm technology at all campus sites will let users notify police, fire or medical personnel by way of a cell phone button.
Also, I-D badges for students are now mandatory for high school and junior high students.
