Community Impact reports that at their July 18th meeting, Conroe ISD talked about the discipline plan for the district following Trustee Misty Odenweller’s request for more information.
Deputy Superintendent Bethany Medford filed an update on student discipline to the trustees, which included campus updates on staff additions in order to deal with issues of overcrowding.
This year, the district made changes, which include:
Across elementary, junior and high school campuses, they opted for 33 new assistant principals and 21 counselors.
In a move to open up 30 seats, an extra teacher for the 23-24 school year was added to the short-term Disciplinary Alternative Education Program Placement.
At Washington School, a new long-term DAEP wing was added that will offer four teaching units and 40 seats.
Thirty, forty-five and 60 day placements will be included at the long-term DAEP per need.
Thirty paraprofessionals for special education and 30 special education teachers will be included.
