The Courier of Montgomery County reports that Conroe ISD will open three new campuses in the fall to aid with overcrowding. The district expects an overall enrollment of over 73,000 in the fall.
The district contains 67 campuses within a 348-square-mile area which includes Conroe, Grangerland, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah and The Woodlands.
The new Hines Elementary campus will be located in southeast Montgomery County at 27980 Woodbridge Cove Drive. The new campus will help cut down on overcrowding at Broadway and Snider elementary schools. The principal will be Erin Mathe for the kindergarten through fourth grade campus. In the Grand Oaks High School feeder zone, the school’s capacity is 950 students.
The new Veterans Memorial Intermediate campus will be located in Conroe at 13475 FM 1485 and is the former Moorhead Junior High. It will help reduce crowding at Grangerland Intermediate. The fifth and sixth grade campus principal is Amber Debeaumont. The school will serve the Caney Creek High School feeder zone and has a capacity of 1,050 students.
The new Moorhead Junior High will be located at 13715 Grangerland Road where student capacity will increase to 1,600 students. Serving as principal of the seventh and eighth grade campus will be Robert Garcia. The school is located in the Caney Creek feeder zone.
