The Courier of Montgomery County reports that a new $3.5 million aquatics center is coming to the Holcomb Family YMCA in southern Montgomery County. It’s being built by the YMCA of Greater Houston.
In December of 2021, the complex opened its doors at the Grand Parkway and the Falls at Imperial Oaks Development on the shores of Lake Holcomb.
A pool with eight lanes and two additional teaching lanes will be offered. During the second phase of the building, a prayer wall and restroom will be constructed.
The effort got underway in May and is projected to be completed in January of 2024.
Phase one of the project features an indoor/outdoor design that is open and accessible in all weather environments.
The initial project featured a 12,000-square-foot turfed pavilion with a court for pickleball, basketball and other sport venues. The area also offers large sports fields and a fitness center located outdoors.
