The Courier of Montgomery County reports that Willis ISD has hired two people for administrative posts. One of the positions was created because of the increasing number of students who require special services.
The number of students who are in the district’s special education program has increased. Superintendent Tim Harkkrider said that in the 2018-19 school year around 650 students were in the program and now, in 2023, around 980 are in it.
Serving as assistant director of special education will be former behavioral specialist for Tomball ISD, Dr. Ann H Le. Previous to working for Tomball ISD, Dr. Le worked for Klein and Cy-Fair ISD’s, serving a total of 11 years in education.
Superintendent Harkrider said Dr. Le “brings a wealth of knowledge and training experience to our school’s district.’ He added, “It’s definitely going to benefit our educators that work with our neediest children.”
The district is filling the executive director of secondary education position with former principal of Tomball ISD’s Creekside Park Junior High, John Vaglienty. Vaglienty offers 22 years of educational experience. He served in administrative and educational roles in Aldine, Cy-Fair and Tomball ISD’s.
