The litter control program is being restarted in Montgomery County. Inmates from the jail will be utililized to take care of the litter on roads.
Four detention officers and a sergeant will oversee the effort through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The program will be funded by Precinct 2 Commissioner Riley and Precinct 4 Commissioner Gray.
With benefits, the deputies pay will be $46,862 annually, and the sergeants salary will be $81,931.
The program had been paused during the COVID-19 pandemic because of restrictions implemented by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
