Community Impact reports that at an April 26th open house hosted by the San Jacinto River Authority around $700 million in projects for a new ten-year capital improvement plan were outlined. The projects will be located in the agency’s service region including the Woodlands and Lake Conroe area to include improvements at their facilities.
Details include $5.89 Million in maintenance facility improvements and service outlet work for Lake Conroe and a total of $369.13 million for water and wastewater projects for the Woodlands.
A big portion of the project, according to director of operations for the River Authority Ed Shackelford, will have to be funded through 25 to 30 year long term debt, which will be passed along to users via increases in fees. The River Authority is seeking other low interest funding from the federal and state government.
