Community Impact reports that there’s the construction of a community underway in Conroe which is in response to the need for the housing of at-risk youth. It’s expected that the duplexes of Angel Reach Village will open around August. Infrastructure and utilities were completed in late March.
Angel Reach is a faith-based group in Conroe who helps youth from ages 16 to 24 who are at risk for homelessness and aging out of foster care.
Phase One of Angel Reach Village, when complete, will have 16 duplexes and 32 beds. Each home spans 550 square feet. Signorelli Company’s First American Homes began the construction of the first eight duplexes.
According to Angel Reach Executive Director Jean Radach, more duplexes, to be built in the first phase, will be constructed by HomeAid and GracePoint Homes. HomeAid will build three and GracePoint will build five. Ms. Radach says in February alone their organization has received 35 referrals.
Angel Reach offers not just housing, but case management services and helps residents with life skills classes, transportation, counseling and tutoring, getting their driver’s license, earning a GED and finding employment.
A second phase is planned for the future.
