Title: KSAM/KHVL News Internship
Reports to: Bryan Reeder, Operations Manager
Larry Crippen, News Director
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the collection and delivery of local news content
- Capture and review local government meetings agendas for review
- Attend local government and school board meetings to capture audio and details
- Recap meetings in writing, highlighting key decisions
- Prepare audio segments for replay on radio stations
- Write news briefs for websites and social media
- Schedule phone and live interviews for News Director
- Contact Department of Transportation for updates on construction and street closures
- Additional news gathering responsibilities as needed
Commitment:
- Approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, no more than 50 hours per month
- Internship Program term:
- August 20 – May 15
Requirements:
- Must be a SHSU student in good standing in an appropriate discipline
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean record
- Must be willing to take direction and learn new skills
