Community Impact reports that in an effort that City of Conroe officials believe will get development under better control and save the areas trees, Conroe city councilmembers agreed in a unanimous vote at their last session to cut the number of units for multifamily developments from 20 per acre to 12.
According to Assistant City Administrator and Director of Public Works Norm McGuire, the idea is to make sure multifamily development melds with current single-family residential development and the preservation of trees.
Conroe’s City Council changed its tree ordinance last August increasing restrictions on developers and enlarging the minimum lot size for single-family residential development.
