At this week’s regular session of the Huntsville City Council, councilmembers considered action to appoint a member to the City Council Ward One Position vacated by Daiquiri Beebe for the unexpired term.
In regard to the matter, Mayor Brauninger told councilmembers some citizens spoke to him about the position, and he said, “To me it speaks well that citizens see this council working and working together, and they want to be a part of it and they want to be a part of moving the City forward.”
He said, “The option for us as a council are: we could fill the position; we could let the position go unfilled until the end of the year . . . .” [and use the election process], “or we could postpone this down the road two or three months and then make a decision.”
Position #3 At-Large Councilmember Vicki McKenzie also passed along to councilmembers regarding the matter.
Councilmembers voted to not fill the vacated Ward #1 Council Seat at present.
