A photography exhibit now on display at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum & Republic of Texas Presidential Library features the natural textures and patterns in Texas’ landscape, and the stark contrast in the dilapidation of things left behind. Bones of Texas is a photography and storytelling project by photographers Morgan Page and Dustin Rice borne from a shared keen interest in Texas history and an adventurous spirit in exploring Texas landscapes.
In the tradition of Modernist photographers, duo Page and Rice traveled thousands of miles around Texas to capture their large collection of iconic Texas imagery. Photographs in the exhibition will be accompanied by placards that weave stories of personal emotion and forgotten presence and absence in and around the remaining architecture.
The exhibition will run in the exhibit gallery until May 7, 2023. Gallery hours are Tue. – Sat. 9am-4:30 p.m. and Sun.12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
