Community Impact reports that on the first of the month, the Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 2 added two new tankers to their firefighting vehicles and apparatus. They offer rescue, first response and fire protection and prevention.
According to Chief Brian Edwards, two twenty-year old tankers will be replaced by the new ones.
The new tankers are an improvement over the old apparatuses—the new tanker has a capacity for 3,000 gallons, and the old one will hold 2,000.
He said the tankers let firefighters put out fires in rural areas as no fire hydrants are available. Chief Edwards said, “That’s about 60% of our property.”
He also passed along the vehicles will be placed at two fire stations—the Districts Station No. 55 on West Highway 1097 and Station No. 53 on Highway 105 in Montgomery.
According to ESD #2’s website, “Montgomery County Emergency Services District #2 covers approximately 232 square miles in Northwest Montgomery County.”
