CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT

The Huntsville City Council will meet for a regular session at six this evening at City Hall. Six feet of social distancing will be observed. The meeting will be broadcast live on the City website at HuntsvilleTX.gov/meetings.

They will have a Public Hearing on the Tax Year 2020 Tax Rate for the City.

Among tonight’s “Consent Agenda” items are the adoption of an ordinance to amend the budget for Fiscal Year 2019-20 and/or Capital Improvement Program Project budgets and an authorization for the City Manager to approve a contract with TML MultiState Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool for health insurance administrative fees and fully insured dental premiums.

On tonight’s statutory agenda is approval of an ordinance to adopt the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Budget; approval of an ordinance to adopt the Tax Rate and levying taxes for the City of Huntsville for the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 and the ratifying of increased property tax revenues of $298,050 reflected in the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Budget as adopted.

Additionally tonight, councilmembers will consider amending the Schedule of Fees and Charges for the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Budget to change the multiplier on outside city limit water rates from 1.75 to 1.50 and adopting ordinance 2020-37.

Councilmembers will also consider authorizing the City Manager/designee to amend the City of Huntsville Policy and Procedures Manual–to take effect beginning October 1st, 2020–making June 19th an official City Holiday and giving Veterans Day off to all Veterans employed with the City of Huntsville.

Councilmembers will also meet in Executive Session regarding legal issues having to do with conflicts regarding the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas; also discussion regarding the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property on MLK Drive and regarding personnel matters.
