The New Waverly Fire Department, along with the New Waverly 4-H Community Club, are making plans to continue their popular Independence Day celebration. In light of the current pandemic, the traditional indoor community BBQ Lunch will not take place, but residents will be able to pick up BBQ to go for their families. Pulled pork sandwich combos, with chips, a drink and a cookie will be available for an $8 donation and individual sandwiches will be available for $5, with all proceeds going to benefit the 4-H Community Club. The sandwich combos will be available for pick up at the New Waverly Fire Station from 11 AM to 3 PM. After 3 PM, the pickup location will shift to the parking lot at First Financial Bank in New Waverly and will continue until they run out of food.
Raffle tickets will be available up to and including July 4th, again with all proceeds going to support the youth of the 4-H Club. Raffle tickets are available this week at the following locations:
First Financial Bank of New Waverly
New Waverly Feed and Farm
Prosperity Bank New Waverly
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Children’s Parade will not be held this year, but residents are encouraged to display their patriotism as
they settle in that evening at their favorite viewing spots for the Community Fireworks Display. The fireworks show will commence
after dark in the center of town behind Prosperity Bank and can be viewed from all over town, allowing residents to take in the show with
their family while maintaining social distancing.
