Electronics Recycling Hosted Every Year In April

The City of Huntsville Solid Waste and Recycling Services will host it’s 11th Annual Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Transfer Station Facility.  In 2016, Solid Waste was able to collect 7.783 tons of recyclable electronics with 229 people coming to the event.  This brought the grand total of tons of recycled electronic to 154.01 and over 2,000 visitors since 2008!

In 2018, tire recycling was added to the event.  The first 8 passenger car or light truck tires are free.

Sponsor

Technocycle of Houston has sponsored the last 7 events and provided the staff, trucks, and packing supplies to haul the electronics. Recycling events could cost from $4,000 – $10,000 without Technocyle’s continued support.

Volunteers

Volunteers from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Walker County Community Supervision and Corrections, Master Gardeners, Try 2 Recycle and the City of Huntsville Disposal and Recycling staff assist during this single day event.
