Should we trust the Chinese when it comes to our electronic equipment like computers and cell phones?

This past week at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, directors of the CIA, FBI, NSA, Defense Intelligence Agencies and other agencies were asked if they would use a smartphone from Chinese companies Huawei or ZTE. Not a hand was raised.
