THE KATS – REGULAR-SEASON CHAMPION OF THE SOUTHLAND CONFERNCE, AND THE NO. 1 SEED IN THE LEAGUE’S POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT – LOST TO 4TH-SEED NEW ORLEANS IN THE SEMIFINALS. BUT SAM HOUSTON NOW HAS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY WITH A BERTH IN THE PRESTIGIOUS N-I-T WHEN THEY FACE TCU AT 8PM WEDNESDAY IN FORT WORTH.

IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL ON SUNDAY, THE SHSU BEARKATS ROARED BACK FROM AN EARLY 3-0 DEFICIT AGAINST INCARNATE WORD TO RACE PAST THE CARDINALS 13-8 ON SUNDAY AT DON SANDERS STADIUM. THE KATS WON THE SERIES 2-GAMES-TO-1, AND NOW STAND AT 12-&5 OVERALL AND 5-&-1 IN SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE PLAY. IN COLLEGIATE TENNIS, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN WILL FACE TEXAS-EL PASO TODAY AT 1PM AT THE WALDEN RAQUET CLUB IN MONTGOMERY.

IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT, DUKE, NORTH CAROLINA, VIRGINIA & GONZAGA RECEIVED THE TOP 4 SEEDS FOR THE EVENT WHICH BEGINS THURSDAY. SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT CHAMPION ABILENE CHRISTIAN WILL TRAVEL TO JACKSONVILLE, FLA., ON THURSDAY TO FACE KENTUCKY.
