MONDAY 02/04/19 – LOCAL TEAMS HEADED TO POST-SEASON

IN BASKETBALL, LOCAL TEAMS CONTINUE TO EXCEL AS THE HIGH SCHOOL REGULAR SEASON NEARS ITS CONCLUSION. AT HUNTSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, THE HORNETS & LADY HORNETS HAVE ALREADY CLINCHED THEIR RESPECTIVE REGULAR-SEASON TITLES IN DISTRICT 20-5A. THE HUNTSVILLE GIRLS HAVE ONE REGULAR-SEASON GAME REMAINING, WHILE THE HORNET BOYS HAVE 3 GAMES LEFT BEFORE THE POST-SEASON.

AT ALPHA OMEGA ACADEMY, BOTH THE LIONS & LADY LIONS HAVE CLINCHED POST-SEASON PLAYOFF BERTHS WHILE ON THE COLLEGIATE LEVEL, THE SHSU BEARKAT MEN CONTINUE THEIR RED-HOT SUCCESS AS THEY ARE NOW 9-&-0 IN SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE ACTION.

IN LOCAL BOWLING, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN POSTED A 2-&-0 MARK ON SUNDAY TO FINISH 5TH IN THE PRAIRIE VIEW INVITATIONAL IN ARLINGTON.

VIEWERS WHO WERE EXPECTING AN OFFENSIVE SHOOTOUT BETWEEN NEW ENGLAND & THE LOS ANGELES RAMS DURING SUNDAY’S SUPER BOWL 53 WERE NO DOUBT DISAPPOINTED. THE 2 TEAMS COMBINED FOR THE LOWEST-SCORING SUPER BOWL IN HISTORY AS THE PATRIOTS WON THEIR 6TH NFL TITLE WITH A 13-3 VICTORY OVER L.A. THE FINAL SCORE WAS THE LOWEST IN SUPER BOWL HISTORY, WITH ONLY ONE TOUCHDOWN SCORED DURING THE ENTIRE GAME. NEW ENGLAND RECEIVER JULIAN EDDLEMAN WAS NAMED THE GAME’S MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AS THE PATS WON THE LOMBARDI TROPHY FOR THE 3RD TIME IN THE LAST 5 YEARS.

IN THE NBA TODAY, THE HOUSTON ROCKETS WILL BE AT PHOENIX AT 8PM ON AT&T SPORTSNET SOUTHWEST, WHILE THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS WILL BEGIN THEIR ANNUAL 9-GAME RODEO ROAD TRIP WITH A 9PM TIPOFF AT SACRAMENTO ON NBA-TV.
